Room 12's Living Museum

Today Room 12 presented their 'Living Museum' about the art of traditional Maori tattoo, ta moko, to their families.

Students worked in groups to present a station on one of the aspects of our topic, such as;
 the tools used for ta moko
the legend behind the creation of ta moko
what the position of a moko means on different parts of the face
and we even had our own tohunga ta moko (experts in the art of tattooing) giving our visitors their own moko (on the face) or kirituhi  (on the arm).

The class really enjoyed sharing their learning with all our visitors.
Thank you for coming 😀

Visits to Year 4's Living Museums

Today Room 12 took part in a Year 3/4 Living Museum rotation so that we could all share our learning from this term's Inquiry topic about roles and responsibilities in a traditional Maori village.

We had a great time learning about the traditional craft of weaving, how to use a poi and how food was hunted and gathered in a traditional Maori pa.

Thank you to all the Year 4 students and teachers for sharing your learning with us.
We hoped you learned something from your visit to us too.
