Room 12's Trip to Te Tahawai Marae

Room 12 had a wonderful time on our trip to Te Tahawai marae today.
We were welcomed onto the marae and into the wharenui with a traditional powhiri. We listened to karakia, sang waiata together and shared kai in the wharekai.
We also learned about weaving with harakeke and completed our own paper weaving patterns. Then we heard about the significance of the carved poupou and woven tukutuku panels in the wharenui.
We finished our visit with some action songs to practise our te reo Maori.
We look forward to continuing our learning back at school.
